History of Neodymium magnets

 

Ndfeb magnet is made of neodymium, iron, boron (Nd2Fe14B) with structure like a tetragonal crystal form. In 1982, Masato Sagawa from Sumitomo Special Metals found that neodymium magnets. The magnet magnetic energy  (BHmax) is greater than the samarium cobalt magnet, at that time viewd as the largest magnetic energy product all over the world. Later, Sumitomo Special Metals won success of powder metallurgy method (powder metallurgy process), General Motors also developed  successful rotary spray melting method (melt - spinning process), leading to wide manufacturing and  application of ndfeb magnets.  this is today's strongest permanent magnet magnetic magnet, which is the most commonly used rare earth magnets , is widely used in electronic products, such as hard drives, mobile phones, headsets, and with a battery-powered tools and so on
