Application of NdFeB in China Compared with European and American Countries

Comparison of Sintered NdFeB Magnets in Japan, the United States, and the European Community and Application Fields. Can be seen in the computer hard disk drive (HDD) applications accounted for more than half (54%), followed by the application of motor (17%) and human MRI; imager (ml) applications (11%), The permanent magnet motor is mainly used in computers, industrial automation, office automation and home appliances, followed by communications, instruments, magnetic separators and electro-acoustic devices. In 1995, the output of sintered NdFeB in Japan had risen to 1,900 tons. Its application fields are shown as 1-4.

It can be seen that the application of VCM has been expanded from 56% to 59%, the application in motors is maintained at 15%, while the application in MRI is 13%, and the application in acoustics has dropped from 4% in 1993 to 3%. This is because More than 50% of Nd-Fe-B magnets for audio devices (including mobile phones) have been provided by China. Communication applications are still 5%, and others are 5%.

The application of NdFeB permanent magnets in computer hard disk drives (HDDs) is still expanding. According to statistics [14], in 1995, there were 90 million HDDs produced globally, an increase of 28% over 1994, and an average annual increase of 18% over the past few years. Applications for personal computers, multimedia and Internet will promote this growth. In addition to HDD9 applications, high-performance Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet devices are also used in floppy disk drives (FDDs), CD-ROMs, faxes, and digital video disks (DVDs). DVDs have been used in personal computers and have a higher storage capacity than CDROMs.
